10月28日 Greenlist #1: RBCI noticed that if I have a blacklist, I should probably also give props to businesses that treat me right. Sometimes, it seems like it's so easy to complain but so hard to give a compliment. So, here, I'm going to talk about one company that's been particularly good to me: RBC (Royal Bank). I'll add more when I think of them. Here is my letter: Dear RBC, I would just like to thank y'all for the great service I've received over the years. My first account at RBC was a Leo Young Saver's account that I got when I was about 7 years old, I think. I did not have much money to put in to my account, then, but I do have fond memories of going to the bank with my mother. The staff was always very friendly with us and they let kids be kids. For example, they let us fill out fake "deposit slips" for fun, while our mother conducted her business and I think, a couple of times, they gave us candy. I am 20 years old now and the Bank staff are still very nice to me. One of the senior staff even remembers me from when I used to come with my mother. They are also very helpful and able to solve all my problems. I intend to write my branch (Place Grande-Rivière in Gatineau, Québec) and compliment them directly, as well. I also always have a great experience when dealing with RBC over the telephone. The staff are always very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Sometimes, I really don't know what I am talking about, but they are still able to figure out what I want and how to help me. The reason I feel so fondly about RBC is because of a short stage where I experimented with another bank which shall remain nameless (but here's a hint: it starts with T and ends with D Canada Trust). I found the staff at this other bank never knew what I was talking about, often made mistakes and were not very polite. It was not just one staff member, but across the board incompetence, whether I dealt with them in branch or by phone. Needless to say, I know longer do business with this bank. Through this experience, I have come to appreciate the competence of RBC staff. I like how they have a "small-town general store" style (one branch in downtown Ottawa even has "bake sales" every once in a while) but also the advantages of a large nation-wide corporation and I appreciate the competence of the staff. I look forward to doing business with RBC for years to come. In a few years, I actually plan to move to the US but I'd most likely live in North Carolina and do business with RBC Centura. So, once again, thank you for being "first for me"! Keep up the good work! ~ Jonas "THE STEAMROLLER" Graham, B.A. |
